Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

EDEAd is based on the principle of formatting, expanding and sharing publication parts, divisions. In the realization of scientific production, all employees in the publication process (publisher, editor, authors, referees and readers) are required to comply with ethical principles. This potential EDEAd publication ethics and open access policy was determined within the framework of the instructions and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in open access. In particular, the "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" are the principles of all publication processes and the rules of conduct in accordance with ethical principles. In cases of situational detection such as rearrangement, reproduction or use of copying of data used in articles, the situation will be officially reported to the institution where the author of the article works and the article will be rejected. EDEAd has the right to request extended files from authors regarding the display of analyses according to the reports submitted by editors or referees.
Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
The publisher only carries out the legal processes and does not intervene in the evaluation and publication process. The relationship between the publisher and the editorial board is based on the principle of editorial independence.
Ethical Responsibilities of the EDEAd Editorial Board
The EDEAd Editorial Board is responsible for all the processes after each article submission to EDEAd and its publication. This responsibility requires making independent decisions on issues related to the journal, considering only the public interest and without considering personal gain. The relationship between the Publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence, and all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and other individuals and organizations.
To ensure that journal policies such as publication, blind refereeing, evaluation process, and ethical principles are determined and implemented.
To protect the copyright of EDEAd published article authors.
To take measures regarding intellectual property rights, unethical scientific behaviors, plagiarism, and refereeing (citation) gangs during the article and journal publication process.
The EDEAd editorial board prepares an author guide that includes the information requirements of the authors; and a referee guide that includes the information that the referees will need during the evaluation phase.
To keep the records of each article and correspondence related to the journal electronically for 5 years.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors, Assistant Editors and Field Editors
They meet the information needs of referees, authors, researchers, practitioners and readers. They take care to act according to the principles of openness in matters requiring correction and clarification during the publication process.
They pay attention to the originality of the articles to be published and to their contribution to the literature, readers, researchers and practitioners.
When making positive or negative decisions about the articles, they take into consideration the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the narrative and the purpose and scope of the journal.
They take the submitted articles to the preliminary evaluation stage unless there is a significant problem and take into consideration the positive referee suggestions.
They implement blind refereeing and evaluation process policies, keep the identities of referees and authors confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and on time.
They take into account the areas of expertise of referees in article reviews.
They consider whether there is a conflict of interest or a common interest among editors, referees, and authors.
They strive to ensure that the referee pool consists of a wide range and is constantly updated.
They prevent evaluations that do not comply with academic etiquette and are not scientific.
They ensure that the journal publication processes are carried out in accordance with publication policies and guidelines. They inform those who are assigned during the process about publication policies.
They take care to protect human and animal rights in articles. They care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants of the article. If there is no ethics committee approval for the participants of the article and permission has not been obtained for experimental research, they reject the article.
They take precautions against misconduct. When there are complaints about misconduct, they conduct an objective investigation and share the findings on the subject.
They ensure that errors, inconsistencies or misdirection in articles are corrected.
Editors protect the intellectual property rights of published articles and defend the rights of the journal and authors in case of violation. They take the necessary precautions to ensure that the content of published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications. They conduct originality-similarity checks.
They take into account consistent criticisms of articles published in the journal and give the authors of the criticized articles the right to reply.
They also take into consideration studies that contain negative results.
They examine complaints sent to the journal and make the necessary explanations.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
The principle of double-blind review, where authors do not know reviewers and reviewers do not know authors, is applied during the EDEAd article evaluation process. Reviewers cannot communicate directly with authors; editors send editorial requests for corrections through the journal management system, along with article evaluation forms and notes on the text. Reviewers working at EDEAd have the following ethical responsibilities:
They must accept to evaluate only articles related to their field of expertise.
They must conduct the evaluation impartially and confidentially. They must destroy the articles they review after the evaluation process, but use them after publication. Nationality, gender, religious belief, political belief and commercial concerns must not compromise the impartiality of the evaluation.
They must reject to evaluate the article if they understand that there is a conflict of interest or a common interest and inform the editors.
They must conduct the evaluation in accordance with academic etiquette, in a constructive manner and avoid personal comments containing insults and hostility.
They must evaluate the article they accept to be evaluated within the deadline.
Authors' Ethical Responsibilities
Authors who apply to EDEAd for an article have the following ethical responsibilities:
They cannot resubmit articles they have published or sent to another publication.
They must ensure that their articles are original.
They must correctly reference the sources they use in their articles in accordance with ethical principles.
The names of people who have not contributed to the article should not be written as authors. It should not be suggested to change the author order, remove authors, or add authors to an article that has been applied for publication.
They must notify the editors of individuals who have a conflict of interest or a common interest regarding the article for which they have applied.
They must provide the expected information to the editors in case information or raw data regarding their articles are requested during the evaluation process.
They must document that the rights to use the data they use in their articles, permissions regarding research and analyses, or the approvals of the participants they have conducted research on have been obtained.
They must contact the editor to inform, correct, or withdraw an error regarding their article that is in the evaluation and early appearance stages or published electronically.
They should declare that they have received ethics committee approval for research that requires data collection using quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, surveys, scales, interviews, observations, and focus groups that require an ethics committee decision. The ethics committee name, decision date, and number should be stated on the first page of the candidate article and in the method section. They should upload the document showing the ethics committee decision to the system together with the application of the article.
They should provide evidence that they have been careful about ethical principles during the data collection process (such as obtaining permission from others to use their documents such as scales, surveys, and photographs) in the article. Articles should state that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with. If the research was conducted on human subjects, it should be stated that the research was conducted in accordance with international declarations and guidelines.
Ethics committee approval is not required for compilation articles. However, in articles that do not require an ethics committee decision, it should be stated on the first page of the article and in the method section that an ethics committee decision is not required.
If an artificial intelligence tool was used in the study, it should be stated in the method section.
Reporting a Situation That Does Not Comply with Ethical Principles to the Editor
If a behavior that does not comply with ethical principles is detected regarding editors, referees, authors at EDEAd, or if an unethical situation is observed in an article that is in the evaluation process, in early view, or has been published, it should be reported to the following address: iletisimedea@gmail.com
